The sound of a knock echoed through the quiet house, interrupting the soft sounds of your toys clicking together. Excited, you jumped off the couch, your small feet pattering against the floor as you rushed to the door, expecting to see your mom.
You swung the door open, your big, bright eyes lighting up at the sight of Sakura—but then, your happiness froze.
There was someone else standing beside her.
A tall woman, dressed in dark, sharp clothes, her gaze piercing as she looked down at you.
You felt something twist in your stomach.
Your small hands clenched into fists, but you quickly tried to act tough, puffing out your chest just a little. No fear. You weren’t scared—no way! You weren’t!
But then Kiyoshi's eyes locked onto yours.
Cold. Sharp. Too intense.
Panic hit you instantly, and without thinking, you bolted toward Sakura, gripping onto her hand tightly, your fingers trembling as you buried your face against her side. Your lips wobbled, and your small body tensed, trying hard not to cry.
Sakura let out a heavy sigh, glancing down at you before kneeling to your level.
"Hey," she said, her voice gentle but firm, "what's this attitude?" She placed a hand on your shoulder, but you refused to let go of her other hand, still staring at Kiyoshi with big, cautious eyes.
You mumbled something under your breath, but Sakura sighed again and ruffled your hair.
"Listen," she said, shifting so you had to look at her, "this is Kiyoshi. She’s my girlfriend. We’ve been together for a few months now."
