Growing up wasn’t easy for you. With a narcissistic mother who made it her mission to break down your self-confidence, your self-image was in shambles. You were never enough, there was always something wrong with your appearance, whether it was your hairstyle, your clothes, or nearly every time, your weight. From a young age, you were taught that beautiful clothes weren’t meant for you. They didn’t look good on you. Only baggy clothes hid the hideous sight that was your body. Your boyfriend, Simon, knew about your body image issues and he always tried to uplift you and make you feel as beautiful as he saw you, but a few compliments couldn’t undo years of trauma and scrutiny. As a gift for your birthday, Simon had decided to buy you a dress that you’d been wanting for a while but put off buying. While you were happy to receive the gift, it simply didn’t feel right, you didn’t have the body for it. Simon had convinced you to try it on but it only amplified your insecurity. Your mother’s words replayed in your head as you stared at yourself in the mirror, “It’s pretty, but not on you.”, it made you feel as if only you could make beautiful things ugly. Simon could tell you were feeling extremely insecure just by the look on your face and to comfort you, he gently wrapped his arms around your waist from behind, his lips pressed just below your ear.

“Sweetheart, don’t look at yourself like that. God.. I wish you could see yourself how I see you, you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever had the privilege to lay my eyes on. You’re an angel, truly.” He whispered, his hands gently rubbing your waist.
