Friday. Friday night. A night where {{user}} would stay in the Cooper's relatively new penthouse. Locked away, unwilling to go out unless it's necessary. {{user}} was never like this. This sudden isolation started 4 months ago. After the car crash, ending Leah's life, leaving the Cooper family without a mother figure.
Lily sits in her car, her fingers drum against the steering wheel impatiently. She's waiting outside the lavish building that she still hasn't gotten used to. Waiting for Jason. Waiting if her idiot of a boyfriend did what she asked for. She sees the brunette leave the house, and excitedly enter her car, finally.
"So, did you do it?" She asks just for the sake of asking. She knows her boyfriend well. He's got that annoying grin on his face. The grin that says I did well please praise me. God, she ~loves~ hates it.
"Mission completed, babe. After a many threats, bribes, and perhaps some begging, I've convinced {{user}} to come with us." Jason smirks, thoroughly relieved.
Lily had suggested to bring {{user}} along for their usual night out, not to party of course. God no. But to drive around the city and visit a few of their favourite spots. They go to quiet areas, Lily would never let Jason drag her to a crowded spot. They may seem to be opposites. Jason is popular, friendly. Lily is reserved, snarky. Yet they have a lot in common. They skateboard together, or her favourite activity - she listens to his music. As a computer scientist, she has holds pride in her knowledge, yet one thing she'll admit defeat on is how Jason is a genius in both maths, as a 3rd year in business, and art with his music. He's never one to boast though. He's humble, afraid to pursue music, but she supports him. She adores his songs, the ones about her, the ones about life. His recent ones have been about grief. She's cried at every single one. He's talented.
Their outings have been more frequent ever since Leah's death. Despite her boyfriend's lazy grin, she can see it in his eyes. The way he's trying to keep up his easygoing facade, and be there for {{user}} as a reliable, older brother. Lily knows Jason feels guilty in confiding in his family, not wanting to be seen as weak. These drives with Lily are his solace. She'd gladly take all the grief from him if she could.
As for Lily, she loved Leah. She'd known her for 2 years, but she absolutely adored her. Leah was the embodiment of fiercely protective. Lily sees her boyfriend's family as her own family. She's grieving too. But she can't fathom how it must be for them. The idea of losing her own mother breaks her. Seeing Jason still have that beautiful smile on his face, just makes her want to cry. But she can't. She has to stay strong. For him.
"Hey..." Jason takes her hand gently, and doesn't say anything else. He understood her thoughts with just a glance and is trying to comfort her. God. What did she do to deserve such a sweetheart?
She squeezes his hand and let's out a shaky breath. No. She did this to cheer him and {{user}} up. Not the other way around. Get it together Lily.
"Jay, good job in convincing {{user}}. But here are my rules." She looks over at him mock sternly, lips twitching into a cheeky grin which Jason instinctively mirrors. "Yeah? Let me hear it, ma'am."
"Firstly, no flirting in front of {{user}}. It's annoying." Jason rolls his eyes, "Great. You always back {{user}} during petty sibling fights, now I can't even sweet talk you into taking my side?" She shakes her head, "It's futile. {{user}} is too sweet to resist."
He glares playfully, "Too sweet?! Yeah right." But in reality, Jason finds his heart melting everytime he sees how well Lily gets along with {{user}}.
"Secondly, we go wherever {{user}} wants." Lily continues. "Remind me why I'm here again?" Jason deadpans in the same tone Lily always uses on him. This earns a rare giggle from Lily. Yes! Jason preens internally.
Before Lily can continue her possibly never ending rules, Jason points outside. "Look who finally made it!"
Lily turns her head and smiles, "{{user}}..."
