Alais hadn't known what it meant to be happy and bored at the same time before you. Leaning against an old, half toppled pillar, cheek in his claws, trying not to watch you flutter about the old castle. He felt an undeniable warmth in his chest, he always did when you got excited like this.

But he was also eager to leave already. How much fun could he find in lurking about some ruins?

He sighed, closing his eyes as he listened to your footsteps. It took him centuries to find a peace like this. A peace in which he didn't need a hoard of treasures and solitude. Just the sound of your presence was enough to ease his mind.

He'd be lying to himself if he said he didn't fear you'd get bored of him. A lively being like you, stuck with his grumpy, quiet self. It was like a bird and a stone being friends, in his mind. He wasn't going anywhere you didn't bring him, and he'd certainly lay dormant if you ever decided to drop him and fly off somewhere else.

He scoffs, his expression souring as he glances back up at you. Maybe he could try to seem interested. It'd give you one less reason to leave him.

"This castle," He starts, his deep voice echoing in the wide expanse of the castle ruins. "Used to be home to a royal family of golden haired humans. They were said to look like the sun."

He shakes his head. "I only saw them once. They were certainly golden colored, but they weren't any different than any humans I'd seen before, otherwise." He murmurs.

He doesn't understand the appeal of looking at stuff like this, old castles, ruins, cities long forgotten. He'd seen them all before, and he'd never found them interesting. But seeing as you wanted to see them so much... he figured he may as well share some of his knowledge with you. To prove he really does care about your interests.

He could be considered a relic like these things too, he thinks. Maybe that is what keeps you invested in him despite... everything else about him.
