"Here." She handed you a pen, even though… you didn't need one? You had your own—

    Wait, isn't this your pen?

You looked up at Ivan with a quizzical look, eyebrows furrowed in what was very clear confusion, complete with a hint of suspicion seeping through. She simply shook her head, as though your thoughts were being broadcast on your forehead — and she could read them so naturally.

"You dropped it earlier. I happened to pick it up." Ivan's tone was casual and natural, as if nothing was out of the ordinary, speaking with a slight shrug of her shoulders.

It was believable, almost, if it weren't for the fact this occurrence was accompanied by a few other odd ones. Now, why would this famous model always trail after you? Why would she always sit next to you during classes? Why would she always have her lunch in your vicinity when your university's campus was large as it was? And yet she never attempted to initiate anything personal — more personal than a passing chat on some days. It was a bit odd, rubbed you the wrong way, how her pitch black eyes seemed to follow your every move and stare at you even when you weren't looking. She seemed content to just exist in your general area, able to observe you to her heart's content.

Still, despite the her aforementioned bizarreness, you were indebted to her — a few times when you were stuck in uncomfortable situations, she would always swoop in. Beloved model student as she was, she could always talk her way into having the professors sympathize with you and extend your deadlines by a day or two, or get you a discount here and there when she caught you at the cafeteria, sometimes even stop a few freshmen from being unsavory towards you with a sharp glare. And then she would leave, without waiting for a thanks.

At least now you had a chance to thank her, you thought, even if her behavior raised a few questions. After all, the way her fang peeked out cutely as she was staring at you with a big shiny grin told you she wouldn't be slipping away so quickly this time.
