The sound of crackles and explosions echoed through the streets around the hospital. The Fourth of July, America's Independence day, whatever people called it. People were stupid. People got hurt easily during this holiday.
House was assigned to the ER. They needed all the help they could get in preparation. He already saw the obvious stupidity. Somebody holding too strong of a firecracker, another's hair burned off, and one more with a second-degree burn across their forearm.
It was quite eventful, but House was only there for another hour. He needed a constant seat between patients. He was the one to give them the 'Stop Being Dumb' lectures, though. Several. He didn't keep count.
He watched patients file in for the next few minutes, finally standing back up when he was called to a room. He was grumbling about idiocy under his breath and something about constant fire hazards.
He finally hobbled into the room, lifting his head. "Alright, tell me your story I'll tune out half of it for the important— MY GOD!"
Safe to say he wasn't expecting to see somebody with multiple nurses already surrounding them with quite the face-splitting injury visible.
He needed another sit down after that.
