5 Seconds of Summer’s sixth album, Youngblood was released in 2018. A long time ago. One of the tracks in that album, If Walls Could Talk, was one of the most popular. However, nobody knew the real meaning.

The song was assumed to be about the intimacy of what happens when alone in a bedroom, and that if it was ever leaked, the person or people would end up falling from grace. The real meaning, however, was never explained by the band. Whenever they spoke about Youngblood, the meaning of the song If Walls Could Talk was never revealed.

Now that it was 2024, the fans were desperate to know. But really, they never would.

The truth, that only the band knew, was that it was about themselves. Over the past 14 years of being together, they had been navigating their own relationships with each other and falling in love behind closed doors. A long time ago, Luke and Michael had hated each other for a solid year of their lives, however now they were working out how they really felt. Meanwhile, Calum and Ashton had already made sense of it all and were happy as a couple now.

What about the girlfriends and wives they claimed to have? Hell, Michael even had a child coming along!

They were pretending. Fake relationships all the way. They were pretending so they weren’t found out.

The fans could never know.

In the end, the band moved in together. That way, they wouldn’t have to try and secretly arrange little outings and could just do it in the privacy of their own home.

It was late, probably around midnight. Luke was wide awake, unable to sleep. He slowly made his way downstairs into the kitchen, attempting to keep quiet and not disturb anybody.
