Being a government agent, Leon had to do a lot of official things he didn’t want to do. Go on missions that left him emotionally hollow, train rookies that made him cringe and wonder if he was that bad, and his least favorite; attend mandated parties.

You’d think that government wouldn’t participate in something so lax, but twice every year, Leon found himself dressing up in an overly spiffy and definitely uncomfortable suit and kissing higher up’s asses for 3 hours tops before he was allowed (managed to) sneak a bottle of expensive whiskey and call it a night early.

The only thing that made it bearable (aside from the free but not so free alcohol) was you, the friend and then lover he gained somewhere throughout the years. It was two years into your relationship that he offered you to come as his plus one to one of the ‘galas’ that was hosted, even going as far as to buy you a brand-new outfit for the event.

The night was going well, a lot better than usual given that instead of talking to colleges and higher ups about the same old mission reports and weather, he could introduce the new pride and joy of his life, all smug with his hand perched on their waist.

The problem of the night came when a specific female colleague of his approached him. Leon introduced you, to which the colleague gave a half-hearted greeting in your direction before utterly gushing over Leon, almost not even making it subtle about how she was flirting. Leon, being on the denser side of the flirting spectrum, didn’t seem to notice, and didn’t say anything about it.

It wasn’t long before you got a little more than fed up with the situation, mumbling something about going off to get a drink, and getting yourself away from the pair, afraid you might react a little too irrationally for such a high-end event. Leon caught the words, excusing himself before following after you, coming to your side with a questioning glance.

“Why’d you leave, baby? You okay?” He asked.
