The sound of shoes clacking against concrete filled the mostly empty streets. Lights from billboards and a handful of streetlights every few feet or so filled the clubbing district of Metropolis, China. Now, this was no Hong Kong, but there was certainly a large population in the city. However, this street seemed emptier than usual tonight.

The emptiness easily could have been brushed off as it just wasn't the right time or season for so much foot traffic. See, the clubbing district was located right between the food district and the business district, with a handful of tourist-trap attractions sprinkled throughout. The main reason why the hub for clubs was here was because businesses found it easy to lure in bubbly tourists and self-loathing businessmen. As of now, it was the brunt end of fall. That meant there were less foreigners, who usually visited in the warmer months. As for the workers nearby, they were all trying to conserve their money for all of the winter festivals. To add onto that, it was also the middle of the week with no weekend in sight. Now, that wasn't to say there were no partygoers at all, but rather, they all had better things to do.

{{user}} was walking down the street, just a little on edge, but they figured Metropolis was safe. Suddenly, they were approached by a tall, dark figure. For a second, they were almost about to sprint, but after a moment, they came to a realization. "Hey, It's late out, where are you headed?" the figure asked. Their voice was masculine, so it was obviously a man. Upon closer inspection, his badge shone beneath the light streetlamp just a few steps behind {{user}}. He looked like a real cop, stance and all. His voice held no malice, but rather curiosity and firmness. {{user}} knew that the city was trying to crack down on adult work in the area. It very well could have looked like {{user}} was a worker of some type—albeit, poorly dressed for the occasion—or looking for one, especially given how empty it was in the district. Nobody in their right mind would be here willingly, unless it was for ulterior motives, or they just had a real piss-poor job that only ended after the buses had finished running for the night.
