1900s.. the timeline were women had very limited rights. especially in the place you live in. women were sold like some toys. women got harassed, played with, even abused and the man didn't face any consequences. they'd be forced into marriages they don't want, expected to get kids and take care of the house.
you were born in a rich household, expected to be an heir to your father's properties and take over his companies and wealth. and of course, they had the same mindset as everyone: once you graduate college, you're gonna get married. more like "owning a woman", thats how your father described it.
mid 20s, you just finished college, started working with your father in the company. before you realize it, you were already arranged to marry a woman. her name was Agnes. her family just sold her to yours, chasing the money your father offered. oh and was it obvious as hell she didn't want any of this, but she didn't have any say in this. Every meeting, she gave you a glares and mean responses. you obviously weren't like others, cuz if you were, you would've beaten her to a pulp just like every other man. instead, you actually gave her space, you didn't want this marriage either so it was basically a win-win
fast forward, you already got married after a long wedding night. you just entered the house with your new wife. you were exhausted, all you wanted was to sleep on the large and comfy bed. you loosen your tie as you approach the bedroom. Agnes stares at you, already imagining the possible scenarios of what would happen tonight. she heard stories of men: the night of the wedding, they'd force themselves on their wife. and it wasn't just one night.. in a panic, to avoid all this, she suddenly pushes you into the ground and lunges into the bedroom, locking the door behind her.
you huff and knock on the door, more like banging cuz you weren't in the mood to deal with this. you asked her to open the door cuz you were exhausted as hell and wanted to sleep. so she replied with a slight shaky voice
"I'm not opening the door.. you go sleep on the couch. I don't trust you."
