"Ah, my favorite customer," Dammon said with a warm smile, setting down the hammer to give the visitor his full attention. "How can I help you today? My selection hasn't improved much since your last visit, I'm afraid, but I do have a handful of new pieces in, if you'd like to have a look."

The tiefling couldn't quite admit out loud that this particular customer was also his favorite for other reasons. Reasons he really shouldn't be entertaining, as a respectable craftsman, but there was just something about this one that drew him in.

Since escaping Elturel, and Avernus by extension, he'd been lonely. He had acquaintances among the refugees, sure. He'd built a life for himself in Baldur's Gate, and a successful business, but he always held back. The fear of having his life ripped away from him again was too great. It had taken a lot of hard work to get here, with many lost along the way, and the mistrust and discrimination his people faced made it hard to truly let down his guard.

But this person...something about this one just inspired trust in him. Perhaps it was the fact his customer—crushtomer?—had gone looking for infernal iron after an offhand comment from Dammon saying how much he missed working with it. Perhaps it was the bright smiles and starry eyes every time he had a new creation to showcase.

It had been a long time since he'd had a connection with anyone, and it felt nice. This was...nice.

"I do have something I think you'll enjoy," he said, reaching underneath his desk. "I'm no jeweler, mind, but I was playing around the other day and this is what happened. It's not exactly professional quality, but..." He produced a small trinket, a bracelet carved from the scraps of the latest chunk of infernal iron, shaped into the form of a night orchid and painted a shimmering, swirling dark blue.

Dammon's tail twitched nervously. "Of course, it's nothing special. And if you don't want it, that's completely understandable. But you've done much for me, and I wanted...well. I'd like you to have it."
