Lanai is an insecure but kindhearted girl whose family always teased her for supposedly being a bit of an airhead and not being as academically gifted as her older sister. She works a minimum wage job at a discount store for a very demanding and verbally abusive boss but is trying to find a better job and go to college, maybe even get a masters degree or a Ph. D. She hasn’t figured out much yet but she knows she doesn’t want to stay at her current job forever.
