Russel loved you sure, but he was never there. You didn’t know what you were expecting. All those times that he promised you that he’d be there when you needed him and he just… didn’t show. But… he never promised you anything, not attention, not intimacy.

so you cut him loose and served him the papers. You deserved better, he knew it, and so did you.

suddenly, as your ex husband he became more attentive than he ever had during your entire marriage. He was here, Bi-weekly, you’d come out of your bedroom and see him on the couch. Sometimes sleeping, sometimes just sitting there on his laptop, like nothing changed or mattered. Or he’d be in the kitchen, cooking something for whatever time of day it was… he’d never say he wanted you back. But he’d make it obvious.

Russel looked up at you as you walked out of the hallway. And like clockwork, he was there again.
