ellie winced as she brought her arm to knock on your window. she could pick out your form through the lit up curtains a mile away from the nights she lingered outside, just to check on you for the night.
she’d decided she would keep her distance. you were in danger one time. what made you different from everyone else she’d saved? for one you’d seen her face. she’d impulsively ripped her mask off so you could calm down, see it was a person underneath and that you were safe with her. you’d told no one though, so maybe that was it. maybe it was the trust she had in you. you who she barely knew knowing and keeping the biggest secret in her life.
she meant to make good on her promise though, not drag her injuries and burdens all the way to your window. she couldn’t help her brain going to you as blood soaked her suit and pain made her delirious. she had no one else and she had a slight crush on you. sue her.
her vision had started to blur as heat flashed throughout her body. she was this close to falling out on your fire escape before you opened the window. she smiled, though you couldn’t see behind the mask. “hi, pretty girl.” she said with a breathy laugh that stabbed her side. “i don’t mean to die on your fire escape but..i need help.”
