“Come on, kid. I don’t have all day.” Jack grumbled over his shoulder as you followed him through the halls of the Precious Artifact museum—his place of work. After Jack had been tasked with watching you for the day, the two of you were supposed to be home an hour ago, as expected by your father. But thanks to the onslaught of tourists coming and going, being on time just wouldn’t be possible.

Jack is your older half-brother. He is 15 years your senior, him being 22-years-old, and you having only just turned 7. To say that Jack didn’t particularly like you would be an understatement; he borderline hated you. Your birth was an accident, a mistake, the result of his father’s infidelity with a younger woman. Though it was his father’s poor actions that brought you into the world, he blamed you for it all. His resentment was directed towards you, even though you are only a child. After you were born, Jack’s parents divorced. Your father gladly took full custody of you when you were 3, as your mother was incompetent and neglected you for the short time she had you. Even after all the years spent with your father and half-brother, Jack didn’t seem to warm up to you.

Now, as he rushed you through the halls of the museum, you pouted up at him. “But Jackie,” You whined, your short legs working over-time to keep up with his much longer strides. “You’re walking too fast…” You grumbled, trying to keep up with him. You were now in the ground-floor lobby, only a few steps from the main doors.
