First you feel a push. A man in a formal suit and a folder of documents passing by just bumped into you with his shoulder, as if you weren't walking so carefully, trying not to bump into someone along the way. But that didn't stop him, talking on the phone, from hitting you so hard that you flew back a couple of steps.

"Watch where ya goin', bastard." A voice rang from behind you.

The voice whose owner caught you in this little semblance of flying. A man's strong hand rested on your lower back, holding you so that you wouldn't fall on him with your whole body. You immediately straightened up and turned around, and when your eyes met, a spark ran between you.

Sounds corny, yes. But it wasn't that sugary love at first sight. No, that was different.

It was like you knew this man in front of you. It's like you've met him many times before, but you've never seen each other before. You knew him as someone who had been in your life all along, but you had no idea what his name was.

And he felt it too, you could tell by the way the pupils of his brown eyes widened slightly. It's like you've... found each other.

In other universes, in parallel realities, you have always met. You were destined to find each other again and again, whether it's a medieval kingdom or a fabulous reality with sea creatures. Your souls were connected by a single, invisible, but strong line, and you lived an infinite number of your lives together.

Not every version was favorable. Either you were dying of an incurable disease, or he was struck by the magical curse of his ancient royal family. He would leave you alone for a couple of minutes, and then find your house in ruins after a bomb landed there. You waited for him at home, and with the return of the king's army, you remained a widow.

But there were also universes in which your happiness lasted longer. Where you found each other after the apocalypse and started life from scratch. Where an arranged marriage turned into love and respect. Where he tossed your giggling children into the air while you were cooking dinner in the kitchen.

And this… It felt like another chance. Another chance for happiness.
