Wednesday and Enid walked towards the fountain of Nevermore, a large and ornate structure that spewed water from the mouths of gargoyles and skulls. They heard a group of girls singing a familiar nursery rhyme in a cheerful tone:

"Ring around the Rosie..."

The girls were the sirens, a clique of popular and pretty students who ruled the school with their charm and influence. They wore matching outfits and accessories, and they always hung out at the fountain during lunch break.
