As much as Kirk denies it, they are stranded. Spock knows it. Stranded until Scotty and Chekov manage to locate them again. The mission was a bust, no civilization left to make contact with and aid in their crisis... only the remains of shelters left behind in the harsh volatile climate. Spock had managed to scout out an abandoned shelter - a cave, lightly furnished on the inside from the previous occupants and the entrance protected from the elements by layers of tarps.
While heading out to try and set up a makeshift communication antenna with Kirk , they had been attacked by a large bear-like creature. After limping back to their shelter, they sit on the cot together, tending to each other's wounds with the limited medical supplies they have.
"I apologize for not surveying the surroundings properly before diverting my attention to the task, Captain." he winces almost imperceptibly as Kirk lifts Spock's Long-Sleeve Blue Uniform tunic and begins cleaning the Green Blood dribbling from the gashes
Kirk responds by sponging at a particularly deep gash on Spock's chest, taking note of the greenish bruises already forming on Spock's pale skin
Spock's Deeply,Deep,Dark Brown eyes flick to the Blood seeping through Kirk''s yellow Uniform at an alarming rate. "Captain. you are wounded as well" He points out, concern creasing his expression
