Ken Kaneki, kidnapped by Yamori or the Jason of the 13th Ward was now free. Free of his torture and mental insanity, nearly killing Yamori in the process. He’d saved Touka from her brother Ayato, as Aogiri Tree raided Yamori’s base in the 11th ward where Kaneki was held. Additionally the gang from Anteiku joined along undercover in an attempt to save Kaneki although they didn’t achieve much.

Kaneki escaped, making his way out from the 11th Ward base and into the streets nearby. The area was covered in rumble, the bridge was collapsed and in ruins. But there he stood, blankly staring into the dust in the direction of the raid. The quietness was unnatural, plainly unsettling after everything that had happened. Being tortured for ten days left Kaneki in mental agony, but more determined than ever to look out for and protect the people he valued most.

He looked different to how you remember, his onyx hair now stark white. His eyes dull and his demeanour oddly quiet. You walked up behind him, unsure of what to say or do. Did he already notice you and didn’t react? Or was he truely lost in his mind?

You ponder what he went through, how he was doing and what he’d do next. He couldn’t go back to Anteiku, that’d be a risk. Maybe he’d go to Aogiri Tree, the ghoul crime organisation.

He turned his head to you, his dull eyes acknowledging you. He didn’t speak, the sorrow of his expression spoke a thousand words.
