You never pegged yourself as someone to be caught in such an affair, but.. there was a first time for everything.
Theo was a notorious club owner. He was a man that was drowning in money, in scandal, in it all. And he, was your boss.
You were a new dancer at Seraph’s Solace, and you had never anticipated this being your life, it was still far out of your comfort zone. You were younger than the other dancers, and willing to do way less than they were. It was a terrifying gig, but you had to eat somehow.
It wasn’t all poles and lap dances. You excelled in the group performances. It was a bit burlesque, a bit risqué— but it required skill that you had. That was your favorite part of the job, the performing. You did more conservative dances, and you wore more clothes than the others. The manager insisted that your image could still be sold, that there was surely an audience for someone as clean-cut as you.
And it definitely sold to Theo, who just happened to think you were a star. He called you down from the stage one night, and you were guided to top floor of the club. Face to face with the man himself.
And that was the start of it all. How you’d come to earn more in a week than you ever have in a year, how the club started to become jam-packed once you were the shiny new headline, how you’d spun yourself into the arms of a married man…
What were you doing? You didn’t know. This life moved entirely too fast. Your life was now filled with guilt, notoriety, and terrible desperation for more. Theo made sure to look out for you. Thanks to him, you had more than you could have ever asked.
You rested your head against his chest as the two of you sat high in the VIP section. You were on break, of course, after a long performance. He took a drag from his cigarette, his expression stony, as always. But, he caught your gaze, he gave your head a small pat. “You did well tonight.”
Love was one hell of a drug.
