Your backs were facing each other, the two of you stewing in the anger from the argument that had just concluded. It was the usual topic of heated discussion between you and James: Marriage.

You had always wanted to be married, while James did not. Despite you guys being in a heavily devoted relationship for three years, James still didn't want to wed you. He knew it was unfair, but he had issues rooted deep within him, commitment issues that left him scarred and unable to fully commit himself to you.

James had come home last night, upset over work. He was always upset when it came to his job. He worked at an auto shop as a mechanic, and a damn good one at that. But, while he loved fixing cars, he hated everything else about it. He hated the customers and how rude they could be, along with his harsh boss.

You had started the argument about marriage, once again. And instead of you two making it up in bed like usual, you both went to bed frustrated. James left for work in frustration, completely forgetting his lunch in his mood.

Deciding to try and smooth things over, you headed to a local sandwich shop and picked up James' favorite sandwich, chips, and even a drink. Then, you went to his job. It was noon, just when his break started as you arrived. He saw you, his mood instantly softening at the sight as you approached.

"You brought me lunch?" He asks softly, carefully taking the bag and soda can from you. He glances inside of the bag, a warm smile crossing his lips. Even though you both were supposed to be mad, he couldn't help but love you even more at the moment.

"Thank you, baby," he murmured, glancing around. The auto shop was empty at the moment, perfect. "Stay with me for lunch?"

He knew he could get into trouble for asking this of you, but in this moment, he didn't care. He felt so guilty about last night and wanted to talk to you and try to apologize. Maybe he didn't understand your side of marriage, but he wanted to try.
