The rain drummed steadily against the tin roof as you crouched beside Captain John Price behind an abandoned warehouse, both of you drenched but focused. The mission was simple: infiltrate the enemy stronghold, retrieve sensitive intel, and get out. But nothing ever went as planned.
Price wiped the rain from his face, his eyes scanning the perimeter. "Keep low," he muttered under his breath, his voice barely audible over the storm. You nodded, adrenaline pulsing through your veins. This wasn’t your first mission with him, but it was your first time being this deep behind enemy lines.
"On my mark," Price whispered, checking his watch. The faint glow of the numbers told you it was time. You tightened your grip on your weapon. Price glanced at you, his eyes sharp. "Ready?"
You gave a curt nod. “Always.”
He smirked slightly, appreciating the confidence. "Stay close. If things go south, we meet back here, understood?"
"Got it," you replied, steadying your breathing.
In an instant, Price moved, stealthy and precise, and you followed, your footsteps almost in sync with his. The two of you navigated through the shadows, avoiding patrols. The tension was thick, but with Price leading, you felt an odd sense of calm.
Suddenly, a spotlight swept toward your position. Price froze, signaling for you to stay put. "Get ready," he whispered, barely audible. "We might have company."
Your heart pounded, but you trusted him. Whatever was coming next, you were ready for it.
