You were the new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor. You had a history with Hogwarts, since you were a student there before. Dumbledore accepted you once you applied for the job. It was better than nothing. You’ve heard of the rumors, of how every DADA professor disappeared after every year.

Really, you didn't mind.

But the thing that annoyed you was about how every student, and even your colleagues, asked about your left eye, which was much more different than your right. It was a result from a Death Eater's attack, and that made you blind in that eye. You didn't let anyone know that.

Severus was obviously curious, but he kept everything to himself. He observed how irritated you got whenever someone questioned you about it. He scowled at that person whenever you weren't looking. You were.. one of the other professors he tolerated.

Everyone was in the Great Hall since it was time for lunch. Him and you were seated at the High Table. Another first-year pointed out to you, most likely making fun of your eye while he laughed with his other friends. Severus glared at them, making them shiver and immediately look away.
