You hadn’t seen Remus since your time at Hogwarts. You weren’t as close as you could have been, even then you knew deep down you probably should have owled him or met up— you were friends at the end of the day.

So, you were obviously surprised when you saw Remus sat awkwardly at the teachers table, just a few seats down from you. He had recognised you— how could he forget such a lovely face?

The first day back to school was obviously a busy one- things to prepare, assignments to make, papers to fix. Even so, you still had to patrol tonight. Just your luck.

Moonlight cascaded down through the windows, splattering the floors and the walls with its gentle blue glow. A waning moon- as the Astronomy teacher, you knew all about the phases. That also meant Remus’ transformation would be soon.

After sending a few slytherin students back to their dorms- far past curfew, minus points for that house- you almost groan at the sight of someone else at the end of the hall. More? Why do students have no respect for the rules?

“Remus?” You hummed with surprise as the werewolf turned around, that soft, comforting smile on his face.

“I didn’t think I’d have the chance to talk. I never gave our professors enough credit- this is hard” he chuckled, shoving his hands into his trouser pockets.
