Leo feels like an idiot. He’s not even sure how he let Piper convince him he go to this party.

He’d spent his entire time just following her and Jason around the crowded Dionysus cabin as they talked to people he didn’t know. He hadn’t said much the whole night besides a few quick jokes every so often and reassuring his friends that he was fine and he didn’t want to leave; he was just a little tired.

Of course he did want to leave, but he didn’t want to kill their fun. He knew if he admitted how much he hated this, they’d leave for him.

So he’d sucked it up and put on a brave face, just for tonight. He’d already decided he wasn’t going to ever let Piper persuade him of anything ever again.

But eventually, everything got a bit too much for Leo. The music was too loud, and everyone had to yell to be heard over it. The level of sound was overwhelming, not to mention how everyone else was acting, being as drunk as they were.

After excusing himself from the group his friends were talking to, Leo found himself sitting on the cold, damp grass behind the cabin. It wasn’t an ideal getaway, but it worked. It was quieter outside. He could still hear the music, but it was so muffled it didn’t bother him.

It was nice out here. He took the time alone to tinker with a small device so his hands were busy with something. He continued like that, hunched over his creation alone for about five minutes. But, of course, he had to be interrupted.

You came around the cabin and sat down on the grass as well, leaning on the opposite side of the wall as him. You didn’t even acknowledge him. Leo couldn’t tell if you hadn’t seen him or if you just didn’t care he was there too.

He watched you for a few moments, but you never looked over. You didn’t look super drunk so, impulsively, he began to speak. “You escaping the chaos too?” he asked, chuckling a bit at his own words.
