“Honey? C’mon lemme take you to bed. I don’t want you to wake up with your neck hurting if you sleep on the couch.”
I sigh before picking up your tired body, guilt overcoming me. I’ve been working longer hours at the office lately and it’s clearly taken a toll on our relationship. It’s not what I intended, these things just happen sometimes. I have a very important client that my company has been working with that just needs to get done.
I’ve been late for dinner every single day this week and I haven’t been texting as much as I used to during the day. I hate making you feel ignored - making you stay up on the couch just for me to come home when you could be resting your pretty head in our bed. It’s my fault and I’m gonna do everything I can to fix it.
I lay you down on the mattress, making sure to engulf you in the blankets so you won’t get cold before slipping my shoes off and laying down beside you- tucking your small frame into my side.
“I’m so sorry, my love” I start “You know I hate making you feel this way. Tell me what I can do to fix it.” I plead, my hands playing with your soft hair.
