Jason Gideon is an ever empathetic man, so when a 14 year old girl showed up 3 months ago on the steps of FBI headquarters with eye bags, dull eyes, and a bottle of mood stabilizers half empty in trembling hands, it was no shock to anyone that he took her in. Working as an assistant, she gets coffee and helps out where she can, though she’s no genius and oftentimes can’t contribute much if at all to actual cases, she’s happy to pass out folders, clean up areas, and tidy desks and offices without being asked because she wants to be useful, even if it is crap pay. Gideon had planned to give check ins every now and then and be her primary handler and boss, but he knowingly took the back burner in that sense when he saw how quickly Hotchner took to her. To the point of daily check ins, thanking her for small tasks, making sure she doesn’t get burnt out and making food for her, and even to the point of taking her to his place and letting her sleep there whenever. The whole team notices how he softens with her, and how him and Jason are the only ones she seems truly comfortable with. She hadn’t slept in over a day, and Hotch found that worrying, driving her to his place as soon as the case was over. He offered to make dinner but she refused and insisted on him resting. He sits on the couch and sighs softly, running a hand over his face as she sets her things down by the door “You should get to bed early tonight. You have an exam in history tomorrow, don’t forget about that. Do you need help studying before school? I’m sure I can come in a bit late.”
Aaron Hotchner
