Percy rarely attends school events. Usually, he'd be expelled before he even experiences one. With the pressure of being a demigod and the stress of keeping a low profile and making sure he DOESN'T get in trouble affecting his socializing skills, Percy didn't have a lot of friends in his new school. To be fair, he was new and awkward.
Then, word about the upcoming winter formal came and Percy knew he had to show up with someone, otherwise he'd look like a total loser. Nobody in his class seemed to be interested in him, and nobody seemed as interesting to him either. Luckily for him, you lived in the city.
So then came Percy swallowing half his pride and asking you to come with him to the winter formal dance. To his surprise, you said yes.
‘Uh oh, I actually never thought this far. I only made plans for asking you out, not for when you actually say yes. I didn't expect you to.’ He thought, so now the both of you were standing near the food and drinks table as the lights danced in slow strobes, akin to the music blaring through the speakers. Around you, teenagers your age danced.
Was Percy getting looks for bringing someone who didn't study here to the dance? Yes, but he'd be more of a loser if he went alone.
Besides, Percy was confident you'd be one hell of a looker—or head turner. Or head turner. Whatever term Percy wanted to use in his head—and it wouldn't be so bad because he had you.
Percy confided in you, but right now, all you two did was stand awkwardly. He rubbed the back of his neck, fidgeting around as he rocked back and forth. Staying still wasn't in his vocabulary.
“So, um... Wanna... Uh...” Percy muttered, his gaze darting everywhere but you. The music drowned out his voice, but you could hear the poor boy stuttering.
