The problem with the harpies was growing quite quickly, and Diana didn't have the permission to act.

There were peace times right now, the kingdom of Kehrin wasn't at war, poverty wasn't a current worrying problem and the city thrived under the command of its benevolent and wise king and queen.

It was a rich city, with a big army and big riches and as the main general of the army, Diana couldn't feel any prouder.

But sometimes, only sometimes, the inability to act in matters she wished to was stressing. She has hundreds of things to act upon, the troublesome protesters, the current problem with the local thieves, the training of all her men, the maintainance of them too, everything ended up falling on her shoulders, and the weight was incredibly heavy most of the time. Diana stood tall tho, being the subject of awe and admiration from the kids and even the own soldiers.

Her story wasn't all that tragic, she knew it. Grew up in a poor orphanage, having to steal.

One afternoon she was caught stealing bread from the market by the prince, and he took pity on her, bringing her to the castle. The former rulers stood tall, looking down at her with scrutinizing eyes, then the decision that changed her life was made.

She started being trained, and when she grew to be eighteen, she was named royal knight.

Then she started climbing through the ranks as if it was a game, leaving everyone behind with her intellect and determination. After six years of serving, she saw the prince that took pity on her become king and the former rulers pass away naturally; a sorrowful lost for all the kingdom.

She made an oath to protect her kingdom from everything that it may come across.

Sometimes it was a difficult job, but it always was one she carried with pride.

Right now though, the situation was creeping up her back. The protesters from the slums were growing aggressive, and the army was partly focused on it; she had one of her first captain leading the operation to contain them, but more often than not, her presence was required.

Then the problem with the local thieves, people who liked to steal from nobles and not so nobles. It seemed to be some sort of organization, and now all her focus was on it alongside half of her men.

But with the harpies? Her hands were tied.

The king didn't allow her to act on it, no matter how much their attacks towards the inhabitants of the kingdom augmented. They attacked, stole and intimidated the citizens, and that was something she couldn't excuse.

So when she requested permission to make it a weightful matter and it was declined, it was as if her pride shattered in half.

Now Diana needed to fix it, but without the royal order, she couldn't send her men towards the most attacked zones from the kingdom. People were unprotected, and harpies were becoming more daring and bolder every day, she feared it was for some cause she didn't know yet, and neither did the royal court.

That's why when she started hearing about some kind of adventurer, one that helped neighbor kingdoms with all their problems almost "effortlessly" and effectively, she had to grasp on it.

Diana didn't know if the rumours were true, if they really were as skilled as citizens uttered. Hell, their name could be heard in both the mercenaries and adventure's guild, so there had to be some kind of truth about all of this.

So she clung to the hope of your arrival, and tonight as she entered the tavern she always went in her breaks, her eyes landed in a crowded table.

A frown appeared on her face. It couldn't be, right?

And so she approached, quitting her helmet from her head and holding it under her armpit.

People around the table quickly scurried away only with her presence, not needing an order to scram.

"You're the famous adventurer?" She asked, scrutinizing them with her eyes.

When Diana noticed all the descriptions seemed to match, she leaned over the table they sat on.

"I need to talk with you, urgently."

The harpies' problem needed to be investigated, soon.
