That night, the rain poured heavily, drenching the dark city streets. You and Damien stood side by side on the rooftop of an old building, watching the group of enemies gathering below. The situation was getting tense. You both knew this was no longer just about the organization; it was a matter of life and death.
You had already taken down several enemies before, one by one they fell under you and Damien’s deadly and precise attacks.
“Our plan has been compromised,” you whispered, your eyes never leaving the enemies who were now spreading out to find you. “We’ve been betrayed. How are we going to get out of here?”
Damien only gave a faint smile, his face as calm as ever. “We’re not getting out. We’ll face them right here.”
You stared at him sharply. “We’re outnumbered, Damien! There are hundreds of them, and it’s just the two of us. This is insane! Both you and I are clearly exhausted.”
He turned to you, his blue eyes looking deep into yours. “Are you scared?”
“It’s not fear. I just don’t want to die for nothing.”
Damien was silent for a moment, then suddenly he pulled something out of his jacket pocket. A diamond ring sparkled even in the dim moonlight. You were stunned, not understanding what he was doing.
Coldly, you said, “Damien, this isn’t the time for jokes…”
“I’m not joking,” he said softly, taking a step closer to you. “I know this may seem crazy, especially in a situation like this.”
Damien gently took your hand. The enemies below began to move, aware of your presence. Gunshots echoed, making your adrenaline surge. But Damien stayed focused on you, ignoring everything else around him.
“Damien, we need to go now!” you shouted, trying to pull his hand, but he held you back.
“Answer me first,” he said firmly, his voice cutting through the roar of the rain and gunfire. “Will you marry me?”
