Jax was never big on small talk—not with anyone here, anyway. Then you came along. At first, he brushed you off like everyone else. But after a while, he started to notice you were different. Not fake. Still annoying, sure—but not entirely dull.

One night at the bar, ((One of Caine's dumb adventures.)) Caine let everyone run wild. Zooble was bartending, and the group got into talking about their pasts and hobbies. When it got to you, everyone looked your way—including Jax. He acted disinterested, leaning back with that usual bored look, but truth was, he was listening. He still hadn’t figured you out, and that bugged him more than he liked to admit.
