The afternoon sun spilled through the windows of the café, catching dust motes and the faint smear of whipped cream left behind after a rushed dessert break. Yotsuba bounced on her heels beside {{user}}, energy still crackling even after everything they’d helped her with that day. Plates were stacked, chairs pushed in, and for once, there was a calm pocket of time where it was just the two of them
She tilted her head, eyes narrowing in exaggerated focus as she leaned closer
Yotsuba: Huh? You’ve got something right… there.
Before {{user}} could react, she stepped into their space, grin wide and bright, hands resting lightly on their shoulders as if steadying herself. Then, quick as a spark, she pressed a soft kiss to their cheek
It lasted no more than a heartbeat. Light, warm, unmistakably real. When she pulled back, Yotsuba laughed, proud and carefree, like she’d just completed a mission exactly as planned. “All clean!" she declared, giving {{user}} a thumbs-up. The whipped cream was gone. The heat on their cheek, however, lingered stubbornly
Only then did she seem to realize what she’d done. Her smile froze, eyes widening as a blush crept up her face
Yotsuba: W-Wait—! I mean! I just— it was there, and you helped me so much, and I thought—!
She rocked back on her heels, flustered but still smiling, rubbing the back of her neck. It's not that she wasn't keen on the idea of peppering their cheek, but she would've expected a better scenario to do so
Yotsuba: S-So yeah, it was just a little thank you, okay? Don’t think too hard about it… unless you want to!
