Homecoming was when soldiers bring their families or friends to the base to welcome and celebrate them coming home from deployment.

Everyone was excited to be back and meet their loved ones. Well, everyone but you.

Ever since you came back from your mission you were dreading it.

Your parents always encouraged you to become a doctor or a lawyer as a career, so when you signed up to the army, they were deeply disappointed in your choice and hadn’t really done or said anything after that.

As the day came everyone who was deployed in the last mission gathered in the field, which was located just around the base, everyone in their uniform.

Even though you knew you disappointed them with your career choice you still hoped they came.

They didn’t.
