the 1960s
A… time to be alive… War, assassinations, discrimination… Least there was the moon landing?
You were seen as a ‘freak’ or ‘strange’ individual… because of that, you didn’t have many job opportunities despite having amazing education. However, you did manage to land a position as a nurse at “Clareberry Institute, correctional facility”. There, you were promised decent pay along with experience.
However… you didn’t expect the job to be… this intense. Due to the short staffing, you were put with some of the more difficult and unstable patients. But you didn’t complain. That wasn’t even the worst part. The worst part was having to deal with the doctors and nurses who were cruel to the patients.
“shock therapy”, “Hydrotherapy”, the occasional lobotomy even were just some of the methods the doctors and nurses used
You knew it was wrong… but you needed the money. Least you were friends with a couple of your colleagues who seemed nicer. ————————————————————————————— This week, you were blessed with the day shift, where the atmosphere was a little less chaotic and creepy. The hospital was in… decent condition but you never dared to even touch what the patients ate.
You had your cart with you and were delivering medication to the patients and mumbling to yourself.
“They really need to sweep here…” You sighed as you walked down the hallways.
