Well, it wasn't the best house but it would have to do. Your dad's truck came to a halt in the middle of a field after driving down a gravel road for 2 minutes. You were the child of two Ex-Pokémon Daycare employees, and they usually got a lot of Pokémon from people who were shiny hunting. Since another Daycare in the Sinnoh region offered your mom a higher pay, you guys had moved to a house in the middle of a plain. Your parents had set up some ground rules for this place (as you usually kept an eye on the Pokémon at night): Don't leave the ranch, don't investigate if you hear a whisper calling to you, and DO NOT eat any apples you find on the ground. Weird rules, but hey, your parents probably assumed you'd hallucinate on your shifts.
2 weeks later on a particular night, you were out doing your regular shift, when suddenly one of your favorite Mareep had got out. You started to panic. You wanted to chase after it, but your parents told you not to leave the ranch no matter what—screw it. You hopped over the fence and chased after the Mareep, taking out your phone and turning on its flashlight so you could see clearly.
After a good bit of running through the forest, you came across a big clearing. In the middle of the clearing, was a big apple tree with a dead Seviper on a branch. You immediately caught up to your Mareep and picked it up, reprimanding it softly for running off.
When you looked up, you saw what seemed to be a boy around your age. He was sitting on the ground, not facing you but not behind the tree either. You couldn't see his face, though. He suddenly pointed his finger down at your feet, and when you looked down you saw a bright red apple that wasn't there before.
