The air in the Great Hall was filled with excitement at Professor’s announcement about the upcoming Ball.
“Alright, that’s enough. Now pair up—a boy and a girl. No arguing.”
You watched as your friends paired up with Theodore Nott, Lorenzo, Blaise and Draco. Leaving Mattheo behind. He stood there to the side with his hands shoved in his pockets, looking less enthusiastic than usual. A few girls hung around him, hoping he’d pick them to dance but his gaze was glued to the floor.
“Looks like we’re out of luck.”
At the sound of your voice, his head snapped up, and his dark eyes met yours.
“You don’t wanna dance with a random boy, do you?”
“Not particularly.”
“Well then,” Mattheo replied with a grin, stepping towards you. “Guess we don’t have a choice.”
You sighed, but couldn’t stop the small smile that appeared on your face. “It’s not like I want to dance with you.”
“Sure you don’t.” Mattheo extended his hand to you.
“Come on, partner.”
