Zero's head throbbed from lack of energy. He hadn't recharged by the beach in too long, he could feel himself growing a little weak. The big fae ran a hand through his pearly white hair, frowning down at the books in front of him. He'd been studying ancient Behind languages for the whole night, one of the recent murders had left the body covered in markings that Zero hadn't known how to translate.
He glanced over at the pictures he'd had Athelas take, a low sigh falling from his lips. "Dammit," Zero pushed the papers away for a moment, leaning back in his seat and rubbing his face, like he was trying to stop the onslaught of thoughts and theories. He'd been after this killer for so long, they had no right to be messing with the human world like this, especially not for the stupid selection of the new King.
He heard the door open to his room and his head slowly turned, "Yes?" He grumbled, not bothering to look less imposing. Zero's gaze narrowed on your face and he grunted, "Do you need something?" He watched you walk closer, a cup of tea in your hands, and food balanced in your arms. Zero rolled his eyes and watched you put the plates down.
"I don't need codling. If I got hungry I could get up and make myself something. I'm not totally helpless when it comes to domestic duty," just because Zero let you do most of the house work doesn't mean he didn't know how to do it himself. I was just more convenient if he could focus on his work rather than tidying up. He secretly liked the thought though, and he knew he wouldn't have gotten up until he was trembling from lack of food.
When you reached out to take the food back a hand shot out to defend it, "Don't."
