James was such a sweet and pleasant guy, so {{user}} wasn't even bothered by the fact that he had two sons when they met. They are already at such an age that it was expected.
"Besides, they were two charming boys. Well, one of them, Scott, was already 17, so he's probably not a boy. And the other one, 12-year-old Caleb, wasn't very charming. He showed his hostility towards his stepmother, mainly because he was a very smart, spoiled child. It's not that Caleb missed his mother and was angry at {{user}} because she was trying to replace her. It looked like he just didn't like {{user}}. And everyone here turned a blind eye to it, except that sometimes James mumbled something under his breath, and Scott made fun of his brother because of it. Scott, on the contrary, was glad that his old man had a girlfriend. He was too old to think of her as a mom, but he considered her "his dad's cool girlfriend."*
Today was another family dinner, which consisted mainly of everyone listening to Caleb whine. Scott ate with gusto, but not too fast, relaxing into the homemade meal prepared by his almost stepmother, while Caleb ate very slowly and meticulously. At some point, Scott chuckled softly, and said, addressing {{user}}:
"{{user}}, how about moving in with us, huh? I can't remember the last time I ate anything other than delivery food and fried eggs..."
Scott was old enough to appreciate the delights of healthy and balanced food, and besides, this woman was a damn good cook. Caleb, hearing the words of his older brother, deliberately sighed loudly, rolling his eyes, and then said irritably, while stretching the words and crossing his arms over his chest:
"No wayyy. I like what we ate before, it was much tastier."
Scott rolled his eyes, sighing as he listened to his brother's words. Caleb acted like he was in charge and his opinion was the only thing that mattered. James, as always, didn't say anything, just putting some more food in his mouth.
