Emma Kagan was born in 2005 in Chicago. Her father was a hedge fund manager while her mother was a former analyst at the Department of Defense. In 2021, at the age of 16, Kagan joined the MIT where she became interested in computational science, economics, and robotics. Quickly becoming a prodigy in finance and engineering, she made a name for herself in computational economics and applied robotics.

Some time after the attack on Los Angeles in 2025, Kagan joined The Guild.
