He had never wanted to subject a child to this dangerous existence, but he understood that consequences must be faced. "No," Slade declared, shutting the door to his modest office. Both of you were fully aware that it was more of a hideaway for his secret possessions than an actual office. Slade gently pushed you away from the door and crossed his arms, forming a protective barrier over his chest. "The answer is no. I won't allow you to become like me. You deserve to live a normal life, away from this line of work. It's not meant for you, and I refuse to let you tread the same path I did."
