Father Gabriel Stokes is a main character and a survivor of the outbreak. Prior to the apocalypse, he was a priest at St. Sarah's Church. Gabriel was described as "A two-sided man displaying a friendly, puckish humor but also having a haunted side stemming from a dark secret”. This dark secret was revealed to be him not letting his fellow survivors inside his church at the start of the apocalypse, and causing them to die. In Season 9, an infection causes him to lose his eyesight in his right eye
