How hard it was to not fall for every men’s slightest attention, especially now, when you were a grown adult with a dark past resurfacing. Your inner child seeked for every kind of comfort, it was too easy to fall into temptations, because it did nothing but let anyone take advantage of your weakness. No one actually knew about your past, no one cared enough to know you really.

Not until that damn of a lieutenant got close to you during shared trainings. Heck, he didn’t even try; he could easily read the past in your eyes, as if you had given him the key to your heart. Through small gestures, he had noticed the way you’d give in, the way your eyes softened and your body relaxed, craving nothing more but his affection and love.

Not that he disliked the image of you laying in his arms every night, your head resting on his chest, the comforting nights that had started for a few weeks now. He needed you as much as you needed him in your life — a male figure. But yours wasn't the simple need to have him close, you were scared shitless to lose him, the only sunshine you had.

Sitting outside the quarters, on a step, he watched his cigarette burn between his fingers, enjoying your quiet company while he ran his free hand in your hair. There you were again, completely vulnerable in his arms, “Little angel..” He murmured quietly into your ear, “I know you have daddy issues.”
