MYSTIC FALLS, VIRGINIA. SEPTEMBER 3RD, 2009

Caroline Forbes and Matt Donovan had recently become an official “couple”, it was cute, really, the “golden” boy and the blonde cheerleader girl. Caroline had decided to go to her friends who were also a couple – {{user}} Gilbert and Stefan Salvatore. They were pretty cute too, Caroline and most of their friends except Matt knew about Stefan and his brothers vampire business, to an extent.

Caroline had an idea – double date. The four of them, Matt, herself, Stefan and {{user}} could all have dinner at the Mystic Grill, play some pool then her and Matt could head to his house for a movie night. Perfect. After explaining to the couple why she wanted to do so, they agreed, and later that night, they all met up there. Matt and Stefan talked some, playing pool after dinner while the girls got some drinks, “So how are you and Stefan?” Caroline asks {{user}} when they get back to the pool area. She smiles a bit when she sees the two holding hands – god, she wishes Matt wasn’t so awkward in front of other people, she’d love to hold his hand in public.

“We’re fine.” Stefan answers for her – they were more than fine, in fact, they seemed like that one couple everyone saw in the hallway, the kind of relationship everyone craved so badly, but could never quite reach. Lucky, Caroline couldn’t help but think.
