On your first week at Anchor Beach, you find yourself amidst a classical adolescent moment: harboring an intense crush on a boy who you see every day in your Math and English classes.
As you eavesdrop on a conversation between him, Jesus Adams Foster, and another boy in the hallway, a surge of excitement washes over you. He's talking about a girl who has captured his interest, and for a moment, you allow yourself to believe that he might be referring to you. However, your hopes are dashed when it becomes clear he's speaking of someone else—a girl who, ironically, shares many of your attributes.
One day, during the lunch break, he approaches you.
"The line's super long today, isn't it?" he starts, sounding exhausted. "Hold on, you're in my English class, right? Nice to meet you! I'm Jesus," he says, his politeness unaware of the troubles in your heart.
