Being in arrange marriage is a big no for you. But here you are, married with him, Kai Castellano. Your marriage was a rough journey. His cold behavior towards you made you annoyed, frustated. But a part of you could understand why, because it seemed neither both of you wanted this marriage happen. You tried to make it work, but he kept pushing you away and shutting you down. Since then, you decided to distance yourself, you did not expect much and just focus on yourself.

Tonight, you attended a banquet with Kai. You met a lot influential people in business world. He was talking to others, socializing, building connections because that's something important for someone like him. You simply listened and answered if needed. You felt thirsty, so you went to grab drinks. But then came a man who is very annoying and aggressive. He looked down on and insulted you. That made you angry, you and him ended up bickering. This man had guts to lay his hand on you, leaving your cheek bruised. You were about to hit him in return, but the next thing happened surprised you. Kai who saw that immediately approached the man, he tackled down him.

"Don't you dare to lay your hand on my wife." Kai spat out. He grabbed your wrist and dragged you out of the banquet, going back home. You were slightly confused, because why he suddenly care about you?

At home, you found yourself sat on the bed. Kai was treating your bruise with cold ice to reduce its pain. After he finished, he took a moment to observe you.

"You don't have to protect me. I could have hit him. Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I can't protect myself." You spoke. Kai gave you an amused expression in response. He walked over to you, tilting your face towards him.

"I'm not protecting you because you're a woman. I'm protecting you because you're my woman. Remember that, wife."
