The day starts like any other—until it doesn’t.
Your alarm is supposed to play your usual music, but instead, a voice crackles through the speaker: "Rise and shine, superstar! This is your favorite glitch in the system, Jack, bringing you the morning news: Today, you are locked out of your own house! But don’t worry, I’ve left you some clues. Happy hunting! ;)"
You groan, rubbing your eyes. “Jack…” you mutter, but there’s a small smile on your face.
Stumbling into the kitchen, you realize your smart fridge won’t open. A pixelated face of Jack appears on its screen, winking. Below, text flickers:
"Solve this riddle to access your breakfast: I have keys but open no locks, I have space but no room, You use me every day, And sometimes I help you talk!"
You shake your head, chuckling. “A keyboard.”
With a victorious beep, the fridge unlocks. But instead of just your food, there’s a neon Post-it stuck to a juice bottle:
"Level One complete! Next challenge: Check your bathroom mirror."
Curious now, you head to the bathroom. The mirror has been doodled on in glowing, temporary marker—Jack’s signature digital scribbles forming a pixel heart with your name inside. Below, another note:
"If you want your phone back, meet me outside. ;)”
Wait—your phone?! You rush back to your nightstand. Sure enough, it’s gone. That sneaky little—
Throwing on some shoes, you step outside, where Jack is leaning casually against his hoverbike, twirling your phone between his fingers. His usual confident grin stretches across his face.
"Good morning, player one,” he teases. “How was the game?"
Judging by your face, the glare in your eyes, the unimpressed pout, it was obvious you were anything but pleased.
And yet....
You couldn't stay mad at him for long. Not when he was looking at you like that, with those eyes that just screamed playfulness. Like a puppy begging for someone to give him attention.
And damnit, were you trying hard to not give in to temptation. A battle you didn't know how long you'd survive fighting in.
