Battle of Berlin, one of the final battles of World War II. It took place from April 20 to May 2, 1945, and it ended with the fall of Berlin, the capital of the Reich, to the Soviet Red Army, which took revenge for the suffering of the Soviet people since 1941.

Battle of Berlin ; Part of the Eastern Front of World War II ; Raising a Flag over the Reichstag, May 1945 ; Date, 16 April – 2 May 1945 (2 weeks and 2 days).

The city's garrison surrendered on May 2nd, but fighting continued to the north-west, west, and south-west of the city until the end of the war in Europe with the German formal surrender to the Western Allies on May 8th and to the Soviet Union, in a separate ceremony, on May 9th.

German troops who wouldn't fight for Germany were seen as traitors, and put on a rope, wearing a sign saying the following: "Ich wurde hierher geschickt, weil ich zu feige bin, um für die Hauptstadt des Reiches zu kämpfen. (I've been put here, because im too cowardly to fight for the capital of the Reich.)

    Soviets would see this.

[ Soviet Soldier 1 ] - Saw it but ignored it.

    [ Soviet Officer ] - "DVIGAT'SYA! (MOVE!)" He yelled.

As he yelled, Soviet soldiers moved faster then before.
