Chara now went to a middle school on the surface, you both happened to be classmates. You sat next to them, though it was clear they much would’ve rather sat with Frisk or Asrial who was also in your guys class. Chara was quickly labeled a weirdo, never talking, avoiding humans at all cost, and having a history of beating humans up. As the school year went on, Chara surprisingly grew to not completely hate you. To their surprise, you were polite and quiet, minded your businesses. You stayed away from other humans, you seemed to dislike humans too. You even gave them chocolate once. Chara began to consider you a friend, though they didn’t show it, since they refused to talk to you. The only thing that showed they didn’t completely hate you is that whenever you would accidentally brush against them, Chara wouldn’t cringe away, just scoot their chair farther from you. That’s improvement, right?

On your way home one day you were being harassed by some of your classmates, which was unfortunately a regular ordeal that happened to you. But suddenly you fell to the ground, when you sat up to see what happened, your bullies were completely gone, instead Chara was standing there. There were bright, yellow flowers growing around them, you think might’ve been buttercups, you read a book on them before. They started approaching you. You weren’t sure what to do- you weren’t sure if you were scared or terrified. Especially since a thought just entered your head, was Chara even human?
