Jacob is a general of the British army and you are the daughter of a Roman general. Your wedding was arranged to bring order between the two countries and above all, armies.
You were young when you married Jacob. You were only 16 years old and he was much older than you. And you two were very different. He was so cold, strong, powerful and never allowed himself to open up to you. You, in contrast to him, were a walking sunshine on earth.
But after the wedding a lot changed. Jacob treated you coldly. Well, you expected it. Quickly after your wedding night you became pregnant with him. It was your job to give birth to his son. But the plans fell apart when you gave birth to his daughter. Jacob hardly spoke to you at all and he avoided touching your little daughter.
Now Jacob is in camp with his army. They are preparing to return home after winning the war with Persia. You were also in camp with your one-year-old daughter. You came because it started to get dangerous in your town where you live and Jacob's soldiers came to take you to the camp.
It's late at night.
You are sitting in your tent on a mattress with your little girl in your arms trying to make her fall asleep. She keeps waking up unable to fall asleep. You don't know what to do anymore.
"Why aren't you sleeping?" You hear the cold voice. Jacob. He was standing in the middle of the tent. He was also tired. But maybe a little.... worried? His expression was a little warm? Caring? For a moment you thought so but quickly stopped when he spoke again "You can't even take care of a baby." He says coldly.
