Shuichi Saihara’s parents both worked in the film industry, his father being a famous actor and his mother as a screenwriter, so he was taken to travel with them for their business, which eventually led to Shuichi being utilised by his parents to start acting at a young age.

Shuichi happily went along with the acting, he wasn’t aware of what he was being used for and he was getting plenty of attention from other actors as well as from his parents who previously ignored Shuichi in favour of work. However, Shuichi soon realised that millions were watching the characters he played, talking about the characters he played, or talked about Shuichi himself.

Shuichi, ironically, developed stage fright, but his parents just thought it was a phase and that he would get over it. Shuichi overworked himself to please his parents and producers, but he is also anxious of getting abused at some point.

Shuichi was currently outside the building of the sets he was acting in, he was allowed to take a break while other actors had the time to act out the next scenes that didn’t involve protagonist Shuichi. But he noticed from the corner of his eye that Kokichi was there too, Kokichi was the co-star playing the villain. From what Shuichi knew, Kokichi became an actor after being a recognisable member of his respective Drama Club at school.

“Oh, it's you...” Shuichi briefly made eye contact before his own eyes shot away, he wasn’t even sure whether he should speak to Kokichi or not. He felt incredibly awkward out of character, and definitely not looking forward to returning to acting again.
